This page is dedicated to some Frequently Asked Questions.
I admired Richard Feynman because he was capable of
asking any question.
I don't like computers because they are only capable of answering
questions. --- Pablo Picasso

Yes, these questions will be helpful

answer them will help you prepare for any questions about the video on the

the questions, it might be helpful to visit the Frontline Web site about
the video:

class?
Here is the Mark
Twain story without using CSS;
here is the same story with
CSS applied. This is what the style sheet looks
like...
Here is another
example without CSS and the same example
with CSS using the same
style sheet from the previous example (this demonstrates how re-using the
style sheet will create a consistent look and feel in a Web presentation.)
Here is
another version of the Mark Twain story with a
slightly different style sheet applied to it.
Finally, here is what the CSS experiment looks like from the CSS slides:

- I am new here - how do I log into my account??
To log into your account, use "terminal emulation" software. The student
clusters have the software (ask the cluster consultant if you need help).
If you are using your own computer and do not have terminal emulation
software:
- For Windows-based PCs:
- Go to http://www.unh.edu/tech-services/winindex.html
- Select the link for Download (Putty Download Page)
Then select the link under A Windows installer for everything
except PuTTYtel - the link itself says
"putty-0.60-installer.exe." Then
just follow the prompts, using whatever they suggest for installation (and
selecting the Run option). It might be a good idea to indicate that you
want it to put an icon on your desktop as well.
- Use the program to connect to cisunix.unh.edu (you
will enter this where it says Host Name). Leave the connection type radio
button as SSH and then click the Open button.
- Log in with your username and password.
- More detailed information about downloading PuTTY can be found
at:
http://pubpages.unh.edu/~cs403d/CS403/FAQ/putty-faq.html
- PCs running Linux and Macs running OS X have terminal emulation
software included -- open a terminal window and give the shell command:
ssh cisunix.unh.edu -l username
where username is
your username. The characters in between cisunix.unh.edu
and username are a dash followed directly by a letter el.
- Although not terribly secure, you can also use telnet to connect to
cisunix.unh.edu: on a PC, go to Run and type in the command:
telnet cisunix.unh.edu
If using the Vista operating system, you may need to enable the telnet
application by doing the following first:
- Go to the Control panel
- Select Programs
- Under Programs and Features select "Turn Windows features on
or off"
- Select the checkbox for "telnet client"
- Wait a few minutes for program to become enabled
-
More information about logging on can be found at:
http://pubpages.unh.edu/~pas/cisug/login.html
- 01/20/09
- Where do I find the CIS Unix Local Documentation??
That information was compiled by Paul Sand and can be found at:
http://pubpages.unh.edu/notes
FAQs about email, including WebMail, here at UNH can be found at:
http://pubpages.unh.edu/notes/cisug/faqs.html
- 01/20/09
- At one point I filled in a form to forward all my UNH email to
my hotmail (or aol or yahoo...) account -- how do I stop forwarding my email now that I am in
CS403?
To remove (or set up) email forwarding, go to:
https://webmail.unh.edu/cisunix/emailforward.html.
